Winter, when the tree is sleeping, is the best time and opportunity to feed and modify the soil. Fertilizing the soil in winter is one of the most important principles in gardening. Basically, fruit trees, especially trees with alternate bearing are in need of fertilizer application.
Winter Spraying of Fruit Trees:
In late March, coinciding with bud swelling, it is essential to spray the garden with elements that directly and decisively have an impact on the pollination and fertilization practice.
Our proposed formula contains Khazra nano chelated Zinc (1gram/liter) and Khazra nano chelated complete Micro (1 gram/liter) and Khazra nano chelated Copper (0.5 gram/liter).
The advantages of this spraying include increasing the number of flower buds, decreasing flower loss, resistance to frost stress and resistance to fungal and bacterial diseases (such as fire blight of apples and pears) and also decreasing flower loss.
For a good harvest we should apply the fertilizer when pollination and flower formation has not yet started.
Deep Delving of Fruit Trees:
This method is a particular form of locally placing organic and chemical fertilizers in the soil. Winter Deep delving will prepare the fertilizer beneath the tree in the soil for feeding the tree at the beginning of growing season.
Due to the presence of active Lime in most agricultural soils, high bicarbonate in irrigation water, little organic material, incorrect use of Mineral fertilizers, little mobility of most of fertilizers especially phosphate fertilizers and micronutrients and not consuming the fertilizer and the water in an optimum way, mainly the fruit trees in the world are suffering from various deficiencies.
Efficiency and effectiveness of fertilizer in deep delving method, is far more compared with spreading the fertilizer on the surface of the land. Another benefit of this method can be better absorption of fertilizer by the roots and the fertilizer’s better ventilation as well as better penetration of water through the holes around the tree's roots.
The place of digging holes for deep delving of fertilizer is all around the tree one meter away from the trunk.
Most young and active roots are in this area. Drilling holes in this area causes the least damage to main and thick tree roots. Roots directly provide their proper nutrients and thus there is a reduction of weed growth.
Iron is one of the elements used in winter deep delving.
Iron is a very important element in the production of chlorophyll and many enzymes in plants. Iron plays an important role in the formation of chlorophyll, activating photosynthesis system, protein metabolism and Nitrate reduction. Iron activates a number of enzymes and plays an important role in RNA synthesis.
Due to Iron deficiency, the density of chlorophyll and other pigments such as carotenoids and xanthophyll is reduced. Iron is effective in enabling both photosynthetic electron carrier systems (I) and (II). Iron deficiency affects photosynthesis sharply and reduces it while it does not affect respiration.
Khazra nano chelated Iron fertilizer containing 7 and 9% chelated Iron, is the first and only nano chelated Iron fertilizer in the world based on nanotechnology which in acid soils and alkaline, pH 3 to 11, is stable and absorbable for the plants and it is both used as foliar spray or soil application.
The nano fertilizer addition to increasing the level of plant chlorophyll; increases photosynthesis efficiency in plant is up to 3.5 times. Moreover, Due to increasing the reduction of Nitrite, Nitrate does not accumulate in the plant. Wheat and rice which are fed with this nano fertilizer contain a high percentage of Iron and Zinc in their seed and straw. Consumption of bread and rice made from these grains reduce anemia in humans.
Copper plays a role in formation of chlorophyll, photosynthesis, Carbohydrates and Nitrogen metabolism and finally it enables important plant enzymes. Copper is one of the components of the chloroplast protein plastocyanin. It is also a part of the Electron transport chain that relates two photosynthesis photochemical systems.
Copper-containing proteins play an important role in processes such as photosynthesis, respiration and the production of lignin. Copper as well as other micronutrients plays a role in plant’s resistance against diseases. This deficiency also leads to a delay in flowering, versing (especially in cereals), lowering resistance against diseases and wilting because of injury in the water delivery system.
Khazra nano chelated Copper fertilizer (containing 8% chelated copper) has the following effects:
- foliar spray in the winter reduces fungal and bacterial diseases such as fire blight in pome fruits (especially apple and pear trees), peach leaf curl, stain sieve of stone fruits, fruit trees Cytospora canker, bacterial canker of stone fruits, phytophthora decay in stone and pome fruit trees, citrus gummosis, citrus dieback, pistachio gummosis, almond’s blotch, walnuts anthracnose and inflorescence rot of palm.
- It causes reduction of Nitrate accumulation in the tassels and the growth organ in some vegetables, particularly onions.
- Preventing complications like red leaves and fruit of the pistachio.
- Increasing cluster’s length and cluster tip filling in grains, especially wheat.
- Hay and forage enrichment (Fixing anemia in animals fed with hay and silage)
- Increase in resistance to diseases
Copper deficiency leads to delayed flowering, lodging (especially in cereals) and wilting because of injury in the water delivery system.
